Rosario's fig tree / Charis Wahl ; pictures by Luc Melanson.
Every spring Rosario's neighbor helps him plant vegetables. Rosario plants a fig tree, which soon bears sweet purple fruit. When fall comes, he bends it over and buries it in the ground. The next spring the little girl and Rosario make holes for planting vegetables. As Rosario begins to unearth the buried fig tree, it looks dead, but one hot sunny day, fresh green leaves appear, introducing the little girl to the magic of gardening.
